India has one of the highest road fatalities in the world. One of the biggest reasons behind it is traffic violations. We do have traffic rules in the country and we know how strictly they are followed. In fact, you too must have broken a traffic rule at least once in your life. To reduce road accidents and fatalities, Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2019 was passed in the Parliament last month, approving the new penalties that increase up to ten times, depending on the violation.
