Earlier this year, Indian Motorcycle launched the FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica in India for Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 17.99 lakh respectively. Both of them are fantastic motorcycles. In fact, the FTR 1200 platform is brilliant. It would pave way for more Indian motorcycles in the future. Well, at least it is going to do it for the upcoming FTR 1200-based ADV!
As per the latest reports, a leaked document suggests that Indian Motorcycle is working on an adventure motorcycle that will be based on the FTR 1200 platform. It would be powered by the same 1203cc, water-cooled, V-twin that churns out around 120 bhp of power. However, Indian might tune it a bit differently to make it suitable for the adventure nature of the ADV bike.
We are also expecting to see various features that make a motorcycle an adventure motorcycle. For example, the bike would get a long-travel suspension set up, dual-purpose tyres, higher ground clearance, raised handlebars for a better and relaxed riding stance, different suitable subframe, more provisions for mounting luggage, knuckle guards, and much more.
Regarding the launch, the FTR 1200 ADV could see the light of the day sometime next year as a 2021 model. It would be around the same time when Harley-Davidson would launch its first ADV, the Pan America. A coincidence? We don’t think so.
