The Triumph Trident 660 has been launched in the Malaysian market. Triumph is expected to launch the Trident 660 in India soon as pre-bookings for the motorcycle have been open for a long time now. It has been launched in Malaysia with a price tag of RM 43,900 (Rs 7.85 lakh).
Triumph recently created headlines when it announced the Trident 660. It is the entry-level motorcycle in Triumph’s product portfolio. The Trident 660 garnered a lot of interest thanks to its long features list, potent engine, and low price tag. Almost immediately after Triumph announced the Trident 660, it was known that the motorcycle would be launched in the Indian market.
As expected, in November Triumph opened pre-bookings for the Trident 660 in the Indian market. The Triumph Trident 660 features a classy design and styling. Up front is a circular LED headlamp with LED DRLs. Right above it is a single-pod TFT display for instrumentation. It comes with a voluptuous and curvy fuel tank.
Behind it is a single-piece seat and a simple rear-end. The tail lamp is placed under the seat and the registration number plate is mounted on the tyre-hugger. The Triumph Trident 660 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 660cc, inline three-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 79.8bhp at 10,250rpm and a peak torque output of 64Nm at 6,250rpm.
A 6-speed transmission drives the rear wheel via a slip and assist clutch. Triumph has loaded the Trident 660 with lots of features like switchable traction control, ride-by-wire, and two riding modes — Road & Rain. Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm upside-down fork up front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear, both from Showa.
Braking is taken care of by twin 310mm discs up front and a single 255mm disc at the rear from Nissin. Pre-bookings for the Triumph Trident 660 is open and those interested can book the motorcycle by paying a token amount of Rs 50,000.
Triumph India is also offering attractive finance schemes like an EMI of Rs 9,999. If priced right, the Trident 660 will be a great success for Triumph India. Going by the pricing in Thailand, we do feel that Triumph might nail the pricing game in India.
