Triumph’s eagerly awaited Speed Twin 1200 has been shown exclusively at a Paris event and it will be positioned as the top-end contemporary classic offering with the Scrambler 1200. The motorcycle sports an 8 valve parallel twin 1200 cc engine already seen in the Bobber, Thruxton and Bobber Black but gets a slight tweak in this motorcycle with lowered internal mass, switchable traction control and three riding modes. With close to 100 HP being dished out along with 112 Nm of peak torque, this Euro-compliant mill also comes with high compression heads like in the Thruxton, a lightened crank, torque assist clutch and hidden catalytic converters.

The front and rear suspension systems are covered by Kayaba 41 mm cartridge forks and twin Kayaba rear shocks which will help in sticking to the retro design template. Triumph has also chosen a front brake system which is quite similar to the Street Triple line-up with 320 mm discs and Twin Brembo calipers. Triumph will be positioning the model in the performance roadster category and will aim to attract buyers upgrading from the 900 cc Street Twin and the Bonneville line-ups.
