Piaggio India has confirmed that it is planning to establish 100 brand new Vespa and Aprilia dealerships throughout India for enhancing its overall customer reach in the country. The new dealerships should become functional by end-2019. Diego Graffi, the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer at Piaggio Vehicles India, stated that the company is aiming to scale up its sales volumes across both export and domestic markets.
He added that Piaggio presently has a limited sales network in the Indian market and is planning to ramp up its presence with a total of 350 active dealerships by year end. The Italian brand already has 250 outlets in the country although they are spread throughout a few regions only. Piaggio is also planning to launch the Aprilia Storm 125 in April 2019. Graffi also stated that the company does not wish to become a mass market brand and will instead focus on positioning itself as a niche and premium two-wheeler player in the Indian market. The company is also planning to launch the Aprilia RS 150 as a competitor to the R15 V3 by 2020 or early 2021.
