Ducati India officially rolled out the fifth-generation Monster, stripping away the excess to deliver pure riding enjoyment, this latest iteration stays faithful to the original 1992 philosophy: “everything you need, nothing more.” It arrives on Indian shores riding high on international acclaim, having picked up the prestigious Red Dot Design Award – Product Design 2026. The win continues a proud tradition for Borgo Panigale, following in the tyre tracks of award-winning models like the 1199 Panigale, XDiavel S, and Diavel 1260.
As Mr. Bipul Chandra, Managing Director of Ducati India, put it, the Monster has always served as the ultimate entry point into the brand’s unique ethos, with this new version making that experience far easier to live with on a daily basis.

Fresh Design Language with Historic Roots
Redesigned entirely from scratch, the 2026 Monster pairs a minimalist aesthetic with classic styling cues. The signature bison-back fuel tank has been carefully reworked to keep the motorcycle slim while restoring the muscular posture typical of the Monster lineage. Up front, a full-LED headlight delivers a modern, robotic face inspired by the wider Ducati lineup.
Practicality gets a nod, too. The side panel covers blend smoothly into the seat, acting as heat deflectors to channel hot air away from the radiator and improve rider comfort. On the lower section, the classic Ducati shield sits beside the geographical coordinates of the historic Borgo Panigale factory.
Lighter V2 Engine with Record Maintenance Intervals
At the heart of the new Monster sits an all-new 890 cc Ducati V2 engine featuring Intake Variable Timing (IVT). It trims 5.9 kg off the previous Testastretta Evoluzione motor, outputting 111 CV (110.7 HP) at 9,000 rpm and 91.1 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. Impressively, more than 80% of its peak torque is accessible between 4,000 and 10,000 rpm.
The engine sets a genuine category benchmark when it comes to ownership costs, boasting valve clearance service intervals set at a massive 45,000 km.
Sharper Chassis and Accessible Ergonomics
The engine acts as a fully stressed member inside a modern monocoque frame layout. Around back, a technopolymer subframe with a trellis section pairs with a double-sided swingarm inspired by the Panigale V4’s Hollow Symmetrical unit. All in, the new model tips the scales at 175 kg without fuel—a substantial 4 kg drop compared to its predecessor, making it the lightest four-valve Monster ever produced.
Key hardware highlights include:
- Suspension: 43 mm upside-down Showa front fork and a preload-adjustable Showa rear monoshock.
- Braking: Dual 320 mm front discs clamped by Brembo M4.32 radial calipers and a PR18/21 master cylinder, specifically tuned for a gentler initial bite and strong overall stopping power.
- Rubber: Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres (120/70 front, 180/55 rear).
Ergonomics have been revised for better accessibility and control. The seat height is now 5 mm lower at 815 mm and features a narrower profile to help riders place their feet flat on the floor. Higher, forward-set handlebars improve control during spirited rides while maintaining a relaxed posture in traffic, complemented by side panels with dedicated grip surfaces.
Next-Gen Electronics and Riding Modes
Riders can tailor performance via four distinct Riding Modes: Sport, Road, Urban, and Wet. Governing these modes is a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU) that manages a suite of rider aids:
- Ducati Traction Control (DTC)
- Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC)
- Engine Brake Control (EBC)
- Cornering ABS
- Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0
All settings are controlled via a new petal-shaped joystick and displayed on a 5-inch 16:9 full-TFT display (800×400 resolution). The dashboard supports Day and Night modes with Road and Road Pro layouts, and comes ready for Cruise Control, the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS), and turn-by-turn navigation.
