Hyundai has given the IONIQ 5 a proper refresh for Model Year 2027, and the Korean brand’s electric crossover is now coming with a reworked lineup, extra tech and a more competitive pricing structure aimed squarely at winning over the Italian market.
A Fresh Trim Structure
The IONIQ 5 MY27 range has been reorganised into three trims — XTech, Business and XClass — bringing the naming in line with the rest of Hyundai’s lineup and making it easier for buyers to spot which version suits their needs. Alongside the new trim structure, the IONIQ 5 continues to lean on its award-winning reputation, having been the first mainstream model to bring 800 Volt platform tech to market, enabling proper rapid charging alongside its distinctive retro-futuristic styling.
Battery And Powertrain Options
The MY27 range is built around two battery sizes and two drivetrain layouts, giving buyers plenty of choice depending on how they plan to use the car.
- 63 kWh battery – entry-level, rear-wheel drive, 170 hp, a solid way into the IONIQ 5 world while still getting the full benefit of the E-GMP platform and 800 Volt architecture.
- 84 kWh battery, RWD – 228 hp, with a combined WLTP range of 570–546 km depending on wheel size.
- 84 kWh battery, AWD – twin-motor setup producing 325 hp, with a combined WLTP range of 500 km.
Whether it’s long-distance cruising or a bit more dynamic driving that’s on the cards, there’s a configuration to match.
New Safety And Connectivity Tech
Safety and driver assistance tech has had a proper boost across the board. The headline addition is the new In Cabin Camera system, which keeps tabs on the driver’s attention levels and works alongside Hyundai’s SmartSense driver assistance suite to help keep things safer on the road.
Joining it is the new Next Generation eCall with 5G connectivity, an upgraded version of the automatic emergency call system that, in the event of a crash or critical situation, sends faster and more reliable data to emergency services for a quicker response.
XTech: The Entry Point
The XTech trim kicks off the IONIQ 5 MY27 range and comes generously equipped straight out of the box. Standard kit includes:

Pricing for XTech starts at €42,800 for the 63 kWh, 170 hp RWD version (a solid pick for newer drivers too), rising to €46,900 for the 84 kWh, 228 hp version.
Business: Stepping Things Up
Moving up to Business trim, the IONIQ 5 adds a batch of extra tech and everyday comfort features on top of everything in XTech. That includes an evolved SmartSense package with Rear Cross Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), rear Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), and FCA 2.0 with junction and turning detection. A heat pump comes as standard, along with tinted rear windows and an electric tailgate on the outside. Inside, buyers get an electrochromic rearview mirror, leather-and-fabric blend seats, power-adjustable front seats and a wireless smartphone charger.
Business trim is offered with two engine choices:
- 84 kWh RWD, 168 kW (228 hp) – WLTP range of 570 km on 19-inch wheels, priced at €50,200
- 84 kWh AWD, 239 kW (325 hp) – combined WLTP range of 546 km on 19-inch wheels, priced at €54,300
XClass: The Range-Topper
Sitting at the top of the IONIQ 5 MY27 lineup, XClass brings in a set of premium touches for buyers after the best the range has to offer. Outside, it gets IFS wide projection headlights, automatic body-coloured retractable door handles and 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, standard equipment includes leather seats, ventilated front seats with memory and relaxation functions, heated front and rear seats, a sliding centre console and Digital Key 2.0, plus a BOSE Premium Audio System with 8 channels, subwoofer and amplifier, and a Head-up Display.
XClass is available exclusively with the 239 kW (325 hp) 84 kWh AWD powertrain, offering a combined WLTP range of 500 km, and is priced at €58,900.
