Kawasaki has pulled the covers off the all-new 2027 Versys 900, combining the everyday versatility of the Versys family with the high-revving thrill of a 900cc-class Inline-Four motor, this is easily the most sports-focused Versys model designed to date.
Engine and Performance Specs
At the core of the 2027 Versys 900 sits a 948 cc In-Line Four engine derived from Kawasaki’s Z series Supernaked models.
- Maximum Power Output: 122 PS (89.6 kW) at 9,500 rpm.
- Peak Torque: 97.3 Nm (9.92 kgf·m) at 8,000 rpm.
- Engine Character: Tuned for strong, controllable pull at low and mid revs while maintaining a smooth, free-revving character near the top end for highway touring and mountain runs.
All-New Trellis Chassis and Dimensions
Kawasaki engineers built a brand-new trellis frame specifically for the Versys 900.
- Chassis Engineering: The main frame focuses on optimal rigidity balance and front-end feedback, while the strong rear subframe is built to handle pillion riders, side panniers, and top cases seamlessly.
- Weight Distribution: Features a near 50:50 front-to-rear weight balance for agile, responsive handling.
- Wheels and Tyres: Comes with 17-inch wheels shod with Metzeler ROADTEC 01 tyres, combined with long-travel suspension.
- Ergonomic Setup: Includes an upright riding stance, a 7-position adjustable windscreen, and a height-adjustable seat (825 mm to 845 mm). The fuel tank is specifically shaped to offer a firm knee grip while making it easier to reach the ground.

Advanced Tech Features and Rider Aids
The Versys 900 is the first model in the Versys lineup to get an ARAS (Advanced Rider Assistance Systems) safety suite.
- ARAS Safety Package: Adaptive Cruise Control Lite (ACC Lite), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD).
- Emergency Stop Signal (ESS): Flashes lights during hard braking to prevent rear-end collisions.
- Instrument Cluster: Features a 5-inch full-colour TFT screen with Rideology The App smartphone connectivity, supporting turn-by-turn navigation. Riders can pick between two layout themes: Type 1 (engine rev focus) and Type 2 (navigation and trip info focus).
- Additional Rider Aids: Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF), Kawasaki TRaction Control (KTRC), Enhanced ABS, Power Modes, Integrated Riding Modes, and a bi-directional Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS).
Styling, Accessory Luggage, and Trim Variants
The motorcycle gets a new Aero Edge design philosophy, featuring sculpted bodywork that creates a light, floating appearance with optimized airflow around the bike.
- Luggage Capacity: Integrated optional luggage includes a 47 L top case and 2 × 32 L side panniers.
- Editions & Trims: Kawasaki dealers will offer Tourer and Grand Tourer accessory editions, a 70 kW A2-compliant variant, and a higher-spec Versys 900 SE.
- Versys 900 SE Add-Ons: The SE version comes standard with compact LED fog lamps, hand guards, grip heaters, a radiator screen, frame sliders, a lower engine cowl, and a centre stand.
Official Colour Options
- 2027 Versys 900: Metallic Spark Black, Pearl Robotic White.
- 2027 Versys 900 SE: Plasma Lime Green / Metallic Spark Black, Firecracker Red / Metallic Carbon Gray.

My thoughts
“The launch of the 2027 Kawasaki Versys 900 is big news for sports-touring enthusiasts, especially in a market like India where inline-four engines enjoy a massive cult following. By dropping the beloved 948cc Z900 motor into an upright, tourer frame equipped with ARAS safety tech and proper luggage capacity, Kawasaki has hit the absolute jackpot. For Indian riders who want screaming four-cylinder performance without sacrificing long-distance highway comfort or dealing with punishing supersport ergonomics, this bike fits the bill perfectly.”
