Ducati has launched the race-prepped Desmo450 MX Factory motocross bike and the trail-conquering Desmo450 EDX enduro motorcycle. Both models bring Ducati’s valve technology straight into the dirt segment for the very first time in the country. Official bookings for both motorcycles are now officially open across all authorized Ducati dealerships nationwide.
High-Revving Desmodromic Engine Hardware
At the heart of both off-roaders sits an all-new 449.6 cc single-cylinder engine equipped with Ducati’s signature Desmodromic valve timing system:
- Engine Output: Produces a class-leading 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 53.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm.
- Torque Curve: 70% of the maximum torque is available right from 4,200 rpm, giving explosive pull out of tight corners while reducing rider fatigue.
- Rev Limit: Features a category-benchmark rev ceiling set at 11,900 rpm.
- Service Intervals: Requires valve clearance checks and piston replacement every 45 hours.

Next-Gen Off-Road Electronics Suite
Ducati sets a benchmark in the dirt category by introducing a true closed-loop electronic management package:
- Closed-Loop Ducati Traction Control (DTC): Calibrates power cut-off based on real-time rear-wheel slip. The system automatically detects jumps to disengage intervention and allows riders to temporarily bypass DTC via a slight pull of the clutch lever.
- Performance Electronics: Includes 2 Power Modes, 2 Riding Modes, Ducati Power Launch (DPL), Engine Brake Control (EBC), and a standard Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) system.
- Braking Hardware: High-performance Brembo braking system paired with single Galfer discs (260 mm front / 240 mm rear).
My Thoughts
“The Desmo450 MX Factory and Desmo450 EDX in India at Rs 18.55 lakh and Rs 21.26 lakh is surely something that will gather attention. Specialized professional-grade motocross and enduro bikes have traditionally been extremely tough to buy officially in India, with buyers relying on grey market imports or private racing channels. Delivering a 63.5 hp Desmodromic single-cylinder motor, titanium Akrapovič pipes, closed-loop traction control, and high-end Kashima-coated Showa suspension with official dealership backing will definitely accelerate the growth of professional off-road and rally-raid culture across the country. But surely at this pricing, it is going to be a rich mans toy.”
