Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has officially expanded its popular compact SUV lineup with the launch of the new Hyundai EXTER Knight. The launch follows a major milestone for the automaker, with total sales for Hyundai’s “Knight” range officially crossing 1,00,000 units since the blacked-out treatment was first introduced back in 2022.
As Amit Dhaundiyal, Head of Product Strategy & Planning at HMIL, noted, the EXTER Knight is aimed squarely at young urban explorers who want a distinctive design with plenty of road presence without sacrificing everyday versatility.
Distinctive Blacked-Out Exterior Enhancements
The EXTER Knight upgrades the standard compact SUV profile with a raft of dark-grey and black accents alongside sharp red highlights:
- Matte Black Badging: Front and rear Hyundai logos alongside matte black EXTER lettering.
- Aggressive Trim: Dark grey front and rear bumper garnishes coupled with dark grey side sill trim.
- Sporty Rolling Stock: R15 (D=380.2 mm) black alloy wheels or R15 dark grey styled steel wheels (depending on the trim level).
- Pop of Colour: Vibrant red brake calipers on the front wheels alongside an exclusive Knight emblem.
Cabin Upgrades: All-Black with Brass Detail
Inside, Hyundai has ditched the standard interior layout in favour of a dark, driver-focused setup highlighted by contrasting brass detailing:
- All-black interior dashboard and trim with brass accents throughout.
- Exclusive black semi-fabric seat upholstery.
- Amber footwell ambient lighting.
- Black D-cut steering wheel.
Engine and Powertrain Options
Under the bonnet, the Hyundai EXTER Knight relies on the reliable 1.2-litre 4-cylinder Kappa Petrol engine, offered in both standard petrol and dual-fuel CNG configurations:
- 1.2 l Kappa Petrol: Paired with a 5-speed Manual Transmission (MT).
- 1.2 l Kappa Petrol: Paired with Hyundai’s Smart Auto AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).
- 1.2 l Bi-fuel Kappa Petrol with CNG: Paired with a 5-speed Manual Transmission (MT).
