Kia has quietly kicked off pre-bookings for the Sorento in India, with dealer sources confirming that customers can reserve their unit for Rs 25,000. Once launched, the Kia Sorento will slot in as the flagship ICE-powered SUV in Kia India’s line-up. While the Sorento is expected to make its debut later this month, dealer sources are now pointing towards an October 2026 launch instead.

Kia Sorento: All That We Know So Far

Dealer sources reckon the Kia Sorento will be powered by a 1.6-litre strong-hybrid turbo-petrol engine. Power figures for the India-spec car haven’t been revealed just yet, but for reference, the UK-spec Sorento runs the same 1.6-litre strong-hybrid turbo-petrol engine, producing a combined 238hp and 380Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Depending on the market, the Sorento is offered with either FWD or AWD, though it’s still unclear which setup will make it to India.

Dealers have also mentioned that the Sorento will be offered in 5-seater, 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. If that turns out to be accurate, the Kia Sorento would become the only model in its segment to offer three different seating layouts.

Kia Sorento: Additional Details

The global-spec Sorento measures 4,815mm in length, 1,900mm in width and 1,700mm in height, riding on a 2,815mm wheelbase. Being a slightly older model, it doesn’t get Kia’s latest ‘Opposite Unite’ design language, but it does hold on to familiar Kia design cues like the ‘Tiger nose’-inspired grille, along with roof rails, chrome surrounds around the side windows, and dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels. Heavily camouflaged test mules of the Sorento have already been spotted testing on Indian roads previously.

Inside, the Sorento comes well equipped, with features including dual 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, front-seat ventilation, a powered driver’s seat, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and more.

Kia Sorento: Price and Rivals

The Kia Sorento will be locally assembled in India, and it’s expected to carry an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. Once launched, it’ll go up against rivals like the Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tyron.
