Mahindra has officially dropped a 40-second teaser video confirming the upcoming launch of its much-anticipated lifestyle pickup truck, which is set to make its full debut on 14 August 2026. Based on the 2023 Global Pik Up concept, this marks the Indian brand’s first official confirmation and official reveal date for the production-spec vehicle, giving automotive enthusiasts a sneak peek at what is to come.
Bold Styling and Practical Design Touches
Although the teaser keeps most of the overall silhouette under wraps, it reveals key styling cues across the front, side, and rear profiles:
- Front Fascia: The truck sports a hexagonal front grille featuring slim LED headlights framed by L-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs). Below them sit vertically stacked LED fog lamps on either side of the front bumper.
- Camera Setup: The front camera is positioned directly beneath Mahindra’s Twin Peaks logo, hinting at a 360-degree camera system—or possibly even the 540-degree setup (complete with an under-bonnet view) as seen on the 2026 Scorpio N.
- Body & Bed: The side profile reveals a double-cab layout accompanied by a generous rear load bed.
- Rear Profile: The back of the truck features C-shaped LED tail-lights and prominent ‘mahindra’ lettering embossed directly across the tailgate.
Balanced Cabin with Physical and Digital Controls
Stepping inside, the pickup avoids an all-touch interface in favour of an intuitive mix of digital features and tactile physical controls—a distinct contrast to tech-heavy models like the BE 6 and XEV 9e.
Cabin highlights shown in the teaser include:
- A large, portrait-orientated central touchscreen alongside a digital driver’s display.
- A three-spoke steering wheel similar to the unit seen on the Mahindra Vision T prototype.
- Physical rotary knobs for the dual-zone climate control and the drive mode selector.
When Mahindra originally unveiled the 2023 Global Pik Up concept, the manufacturer confirmed that the model would also feature Level 2 Autonomous Driving (ADAS), semi-automatic parking, 5G-based connectivity features, and a sunroof.
Powertrain, Platform, and Underpinnings
While full powertrain specs remain officially under wraps, Mahindra has previously shared crucial details regarding what will power the truck:
- Diesel Engine: The pickup will be driven by a second-generation, all-aluminium mHawk diesel engine.
- Transmission Options: Buyers will get the choice of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
- Drivetrain & Terrain Modes: It comes equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD) alongside four dedicated drive modes: Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut, and Sand.
- Petrol Engine: Certain international markets will also get the option of Mahindra’s mStallion 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Underneath, the new pickup sits on the Scorpio N platform, featuring a lengthened wheelbase to accommodate the larger load bed. For comparison, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic features a 2.6-metre wheelbase, whereas its pickup variant sold in select overseas markets stretches out to just over 3 metres. The truck utilizes a next-generation ladder-frame chassis designed to score well in both Global NCAP and Euro NCAP crash testing.
Market Positioning: A Premium Lifestyle Contender
Mahindra is no stranger to utility trucks, having long produced commercial workhorses like the Bolero Camper and Bolero Pik-Up, as well as the older Scorpio Getaway for private customers. However, this new Scorpio N pickup represents the brand’s first serious attempt at offering a truly premium lifestyle truck for private buyers.
Expected to serve as a more affordable alternative to the Toyota Hilux, Mahindra’s latest offering aims to popularise the lifestyle pickup segment across mass markets while offering serious off-road capability.
