Mahindra & Mahindra has officially launched the Thar OG. Succeeding the popular 2020 three-door model, the new Thar OG retains the iconic rugged character enthusiasts love while incorporating upgrades across its platform, suspension, styling, safety equipment, and powertrain options. With introductory pricing starting at ₹10.32 Lakh (ex-showroom), customer deliveries are scheduled to begin on 11 October, 2026.
Variant Trim Breakdown & Features
The Thar OG is offered across three core trim levels: AXT, LXT, and ZXT.
AXT (Base Trim)
- Performance & Safety: Dual airbags, ESP with rollover mitigation, roll cage, front disc & rear drum brakes, internally opening fuel lid.
- Comfort & Exterior: Electric Power Steering, push-button start, height-adjustable driver seat, rear AC vents, rear demister, tubular side footstep, R18 steel wheels, halogen MFR headlamps, LED tail lamps, and a 2nd-row soft armrest on the wheel arches.
LXT (Mid Trim – Adds over AXT)
- Capability: Electronic Locking Differential (4WD only), Terrain Modes (4WD only), Terrain Assist (RWD mHawk & mStallion), Brake Locking Differential, washable floor with drain plugs (4WD only).
- Tech & Convenience: 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, color MID instrument cluster, Adventure Statistics Gen II, cruise control, rear wiper/washer, electrically adjustable ORVMs, tyre direction monitoring system.
- Styling: R18 alloy wheels, dual-tone bumpers, molded side footsteps, embossed fabric seats.
ZXT (Top Trim – Adds over LXT)
- Upgraded Driving & Safety: Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD), 6 total airbags (including 4 HPTS airbags), all-round 4-disc brakes, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), front parking sensors, rear-view camera.
- Lighting & Style: New R19 alloy wheels, new LED headlamps with DRLs, new LED front fog lamps with cornering functionality.
- Cabin Premiumization: Embossed leatherette seats, leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, wireless phone charger.

- Upgraded Suspension & Ride: Features a rear PENTALINK suspension with a Watts Link for sharper cornering control, alongside DAVINCI Damping technology with Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD) to smooth out rough surfaces.
- Steering & Refinement: Electric Power Steering (EPS) replaces older setups for lighter low-speed manoeuvring, backed by upgraded NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) insulation inside the cabin.
- Off-Road Tech: Includes an Electronic Locking Differential (ELD) alongside dedicated Terrain Modes (Mud, Sand & Snow) to manage low-traction environments effectively.
Visual Updates & Interior Upgrades
While preserving its classic boxy silhouette, the Thar OG introduces several fresh styling details:
- Exterior: A redesigned front grille, classic circular LED headlamps paired with signature C-shaped DRLs, LED ice-cube fog lamps with cornering function, refreshed LED tail lamps, and bold new R19 alloy wheels.
- Body Options: Dual-tone bumpers, molded side footsteps, and two brand-new shades—Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue—joining six existing colorways.
- Interior Comfort: Features Truffle Brown leatherette seating, a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, and a second-row soft armrest with integrated cup holders.

The SUV continues to offer three engine choices across rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) configurations, with performance boosts on selected units:
