The updated Maruti Suzuki Brezza has landed itself right in the spotlight, having been spotted completely undisguised at a dealership stockyard just ahead of its 24th July launch. One of the most eagerly awaited cars in the compact SUV space, the new Brezza brings subtle cosmetic tweaks outside, some handy feature upgrades inside, and — the real headline — a brand-new engine option to go with it.

Exterior And Interior Updates
This marks the first mid-lifecycle update for the Brezza since its second-generation model rolled out back in 2022, and the changes on the outside are kept fairly minimal. The grille has been given a subtle rework, swapping the current car’s grey finish for a new golden one. There’s also a revised bumper, with the fog lamps repositioned and housed within triangular surrounds. The headlamps and LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) carry over unchanged, while in profile the standout update is a fresh set of dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear end, meanwhile, stays largely as it was.
It’s inside the cabin where the more meaningful updates show up. The star of the show is a new 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, also seen on the Victoris, alongside the addition of ambient lighting, ventilated front seats and revised switchgear for the HVAC controls — again shared with the Victoris. The dashboard and door pads also pick up new gloss-black trim for a bit of extra flair. On the safety side, the Brezza facelift now gets front parking sensors, and is expected to be offered with a Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) suite too.
New Engine And Specs
The biggest talking point with this update, though, is the new engine option. The Brezza facelift gains the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine borrowed from the Fronx, a 3-cylinder unit expected to churn out 110hp and 170Nm — putting it in a higher state of tune than the version currently offered on the Fronx. Transmission choice will be limited to a 6-speed manual gearbox for now. Importantly, this new turbo-petrol engine will finally let the Brezza slot into the sub-4-metre tax bracket.
The new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit is expected to sit alongside the existing 103hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine rather than replace it. The CNG kit paired with that engine is also likely to carry over, though it’s now expected to switch to the Victoris CNG-style underbody tank setup.
Pricing And Rivals
It’ll be worth watching how Maruti prices the updated Brezza. Despite the added cosmetic and equipment upgrades, the new 1.0-litre engine should help keep costs in check given it now qualifies for the sub-4m tax slab. Whether that means the new Brezza undercuts the outgoing model or lands at roughly the same price point remains to be seen. For reference, the current Brezza is priced from Rs 8.26 lakh to Rs 12.86 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the new Brezza will continue to lock horns with rivals including the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet and Syros.
