Tata Motors has officially launched the interesting Tigor replacement, Tata Aeris in India, with introductory prices starting at a competitive Rs 5.29 lakh ex-showroom. The Aeris borrows heavily from the Tiago hatchback’s design playbook inside and out while keeping its tried-and-tested mechanical setup intact. Official bookings are already open, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin on 11 October.
Trims and Variant-Wise Pricing
The new sedan is available across five distinct trim levels: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative, and Accomplished. Entry prices now sit lower than the outgoing Tigor (which ranged from Rs 5.70 lakh to Rs 9.10 lakh), though top-tier trims command a higher price tag due to added equipment.
The Aeris sets its sights directly on segment rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire (Rs 6.31 lakh to Rs 9.54 lakh), Hyundai Aura (Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8.67 lakh), and Honda Amaze (Rs 7.65 lakh to Rs 10 lakh).

Sharp New Exterior Styling
The Aeris adopts a much sleeker aesthetic that takes obvious cues from the Tiago. Up front, it features revised LED headlights with eyebrow-like daytime running lights (DRLs), a gloss-black grille, and a new front bumper fitted with pixel-shaped LED fog lamps.
- Side Profile: Higher-spec models ride on 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, whereas the Smart, Pure, and all CNG variants use 14-inch wheels. It also features thin wheel arch cladding, chrome door handles, and chrome window beltline accents.
- Rear Profile: The back end receives slimmer LED taillights joined by a full-width red trim, a simplified bumper with a central reverse parking light, and the signature long-strip high-mounted stop lamp along the rear glass.
- Colour Palette: Buyers can choose between six shades: Nitro Crimson, Pure Grey, Dandeli Drizzle, Pristine White, Daytona Grey, and Dune Glow.
Dimensions and Segment-Leading Boot Space
In terms of footprint, the compact sedan fits neatly under the four-metre mark to maximize local tax benefits:

This arrangement preserves an estimated 227 litres of boot space—the largest cargo capacity for any CNG sedan in its class.
Upgraded Cabin Tech and Safety
Inside, the Aeris showcases a lighter interior theme built around a Tiago-esque dashboard layout. Key driver controls include a two-spoke steering wheel with integrated physical controls, a freestanding semi-digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen display.
- New Creature Comforts: Front ventilated seats, leatherette upholstery, a wireless phone charger, and a integrated ‘DashCam Recorder’ function that utilizes the exterior surround-view cameras. Note: The audio system steps down to a 6-speaker layout from the previous model’s 8-speaker system.
- Safety Equipment: 6 airbags standard across all variants, a 360-degree camera with a blind-spot monitor, ISOFIX child seat mounts, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Hill Hold Control.
Engine and Transmission Options
Mechanically, the Aeris relies on familiar running gear carried directly over from the pre-facelift Tigor and current Tiago lineups:
- 1.2-Litre Petrol: A naturally aspirated 3-cylinder engine outputting 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
- 1.2-Litre CNG: The dual-fuel engine puts out 76 hp and 97 Nm of torque. Uniquely, buyers can opt for either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT on the CNG variants as well.
I for one am happy that the Aeris will no longer be a Tiago with a boot. It stands on it own now and looks unique. The huge and useful boot space, safety and the CNG option has already made it a top seller right on launch day.
