Ultraviolette Unveils BIGGA Factory in Hosur

Bengaluru-based electric mobility pioneer Ultraviolette has revealed ambitious plans to establish a brand-new, state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Dubbed the BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory, the facility marks a massive step forward in the brand’s production scale as it prepares to roll out its highly anticipated Tesseract electric scooter and serve expanding markets in India and abroad.

The greenfield site will initially ramp up to an annual manufacturing capacity of 250,000 two-wheelers in a phased manner. The underlying infrastructure has been designed with enough flexibility to scale up to 500,000 units per annum as market demand builds. While the Tesseract electric scooter will serve as the primary focus, the plant will also provide the production muscle needed to support Ultraviolette’s future line-up spanning multiple motorcycle categories—including Sports, Crossover, Cruiser, and Street—alongside further scooter models.

The expansion will provide a notable boost to local employment, generating approximately 2,000 job opportunities during its initial rollout, with hiring figures expected to grow even higher over the coming five years as operations gather pace. Importantly, the new Hosur facility will run in tandem with Ultraviolette’s existing manufacturing plant in Bengaluru, Karnataka, rather than replacing it.

Strategic Location and Advanced Industry 4.0 Setup

With land allotment facilitated by the Government of Tamil Nadu, the BIGGA Factory will sit within the SIPCOT Industrial Park at Shoolagiri. Hosur places the plant squarely inside one of India’s most mature automotive manufacturing clusters, offering distinct supply-chain efficiencies, a ready vendor network, and close proximity to Ultraviolette’s Bengaluru-based research and development (R&D) operations.

Conceived around Industry 4.0 principles, the green manufacturing facility brings together end-to-end automation, digital quality systems, and digital lean manufacturing. Ultraviolette is deploying a dedicated Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for live, end-to-end production track-and-trace across the floor. On the assembly lines, advanced robotics and collaborative robots will handle sorting, welding, and component assembly, flanked by automated fool-proofing and vision-based optical inspection systems to guarantee build consistency and tight tolerances.

The site will also house its own dedicated test track. This ensures every vehicle rolling off the line undergoes comprehensive dynamic testing before dispatch, keeping performance and build quality consistent throughout the ownership journey.

Leadership Perspectives

Speaking on the milestone, Narayan Subramaniam, Co-founder and CEO of Ultraviolette, highlighted that the company has reached a vital turning point. Having spent the last few years cementing its groundwork in technology, high performance, and innovation, he noted that the next phase centres on building the sheer scale required to take that base forward. The BIGGA Factory delivers the necessary industrial capacity to ramp up the Tesseract and future releases while catering to a significantly wider domestic and international audience.

Niraj Rajmohan, Co-founder and CTO of Ultraviolette, pointed out that Hosur’s automotive ecosystem and vendor access provide a distinct tactical advantage. Paired with the agility and precision engineered into the BIGGA facility, these elements will help the company build and ship vehicles that meet rigorous quality and performance benchmarks, reinforcing India’s push to become an international centre for EV design, engineering, and manufacturing.
