Vimag Labs has started manufacturing at its first plant in Met City, Jhajjar, Haryana. The company makes motor and control systems here, including its very own magnet-free motor tech. The team has already completed and exported the very first production batch from this Jhajjar facility. This launch marks the start of a bigger, phased production setup in India, with Vimag planning an investment of around Rs 50 crore. The capital will be brought in step-by-step as customer orders, product demand, and capacity requirements grow.
The company is using Jhajjar as the launchpad to build advanced propulsion tech right here in India for both local and global buyers. Vimag is already exploring extra locations and capacity while tying up with local manufacturing, supply chain, and industrialisation partners. The goal is to build an agile India-based production footprint that can easily scale up alongside client needs.
Plant Setup and Production Goals
- Facility Size and Upgrades: The Jhajjar plant currently spans 10,000 sq. ft., with room to expand to roughly 20,000 sq. ft. It features clean-room areas, digitally connected production lines, and IoT-enabled Industry 4.0 systems for tracking and quality control.
- Monthly Output Target: Vimag is setting up its assembly network to scale up to 10,000 motor and control systems every month as order volumes pick up.
- Product Range and Power Ratings: The plant is starting out with mid-power motor and control systems for electric mobility and other electrified setups. Once client projects mature, Vimag will roll out high-power systems rated at 570 kW and above, which will bring in extra testing and production gear.
- Job Creation: As operations expand, Vimag expects to generate around 100 to 150 direct and indirect jobs across engineering, manufacturing, quality control, operations, and supply chain, with a strong focus on local hiring.
Strategic Funding and Key Partnerships
Vimag Labs recently raised USD 5 million in its Series A round, which was led by Accel alongside Chakra Growth Fund and Thinkuvate. To support the ramp-up of its VMSM production, the company signed a manufacturing MoU with Jendamark Pvt. Ltd.
On top of that, Vimag has secured an exclusive US tech licensing, manufacturing, and commercialisation agreement for a production-ready, bidirectional high-voltage inverter platform that can handle up to 1,000 volts.
What the Leadership Has to Say
Manish Seth, Co-founder and CEO of Vimag Labs, shared that kicking off manufacturing is a big leap for the company as it moves from tech testing straight into full-scale production. He mentioned that the Rs 50 crore investment plan will roll out in phases depending on client traction, and shipping out the first exported batch proves the site is fully operational.
He added that while mid-power setups are the focus right now, Vimag will expand into 570 kW+ high-power systems later while deepening its supply chain, tooling, and manufacturing tie-ups across India to build a globally competitive production hub.
