One of the best-looking unveils at the EICMA 2019 has to be the Triumph Thruxton RS! It is all that the standard Thruxton is and then a bit more. Doing justice to the RS badge, Triumph has tinkered with the engine of the new Thruxton.
Let’s start with the engine first. It is the same 1200cc, parallel-twin motor that fires up the standard Thruxton. However, here in the RS, it gets new parts like high-compression pistons, revised ports and cam profile along with lighter balance shafts and cam covers.
This made the engine go 500 revs higher and also produce 7.8 bhp more power. This means that the Thruxton RS has got a total of 103 bhp at its disposal. And about that torque, it is 112 Nm but kicks in at 700 revs earlier.
Triumph has also updated the suspension on the new Thruxton RS. We get Showa Big Piston forks up front and fully-adjustable twin Ohlins shocks at the rear. The braking duties are handled by Brembo M50 calipers at the front working on a 320 mm disc. Handling and braking are also improved thanks to the new and stickier Metzeler Racetec RR tyres. We also get to see a slightly revised electronics package.
Keeping true to its cafe racer genes, the Triumph Thruxton RS gets two colour options – Jet Black and Matte Storm Grey with Matte Silver Ice.
Let’s wait for it to get to India!
