Fresh off the spotlight at EICMA 2025, MV Agusta is making waves with its incredible new 5-cylinder “quadrato” engine currently in development at their Schiranna R&D center in Italy. This engine represents the next leap in Italian engineering brilliance—packed with power, precision, and innovation designed to reshape the performance landscape across multiple motorcycle segments from Supersport to Naked and Touring.
What’s Under the Hood?
- Modular displacement: 850 cc to 1150 cc
- Power: Over 240 horsepower at 16,000+ rpm
- Torque: An impressive 135 Nm at 8,500 rpm
- Weight: Under 60 kilograms, combining lightweight design with perfect balance
- Advanced electrification: Includes electric water and oil pumps for better efficiency and responsiveness
Why It’s Special
The engine’s unique firing order allows it to deliver jaw-dropping torque and smooth rideability without needing variable valve timing. Its distinctive cranktrain setup features a 3-cylinder front crankshaft and a twin-cylinder rear crankshaft in a “U” configuration, drastically reducing vibrations and creating unparalleled refinement. Plus, it’s more compact—narrower than an inline-four and shorter than a V4.

Looking Ahead
This beast of an engine is set to debut in a highly anticipated MV Agusta model that had been off the radar but is expected to make a roaring comeback in the next few years. With over 240 horsepower on tap, it will raise the bar for high-performance motorcycles and potentially reignite passion for MV Agusta’s hypersport lineage.
