It’s official—BMW Motorrad is finally bringing the heat to the mid-capacity adventure segment. After months of drooling over social media posts and speculation, the German marque has teased the India debut of the much-anticipated BMW F 450 GS. Set to be launched on 23 April 2026, this baby GS is stepping in to fill the shoes left by the now-discontinued G 310 GS.
This isn’t just a minor update; it’s a complete shift for BMW in India and a totally new motorcycle. Designed in Germany but manufactured right here in India at TVS Motor Company’s Hosur facility, the F 450 GS is the first multi-cylinder premium offering born from the long-standing BMW-TVS partnership.
Pricing and Rivals
While we’ll have to wait for the official 23 April launch for the final numbers, industry experts expect the BMW F 450 GS to be priced at upwards of ₹4.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. Though some unofficial dealer bookings have been spotted with token amounts between ₹10,000 and ₹50,000, BMW will need to be aggressive to take on established rivals like the KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. They also need to be prepared for the “mythical” Aprilia Tuareg 457 expected to unveil late this year.

The All-New Parallel-Twin Heart
The star of the show is the newly developed 420cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. If you’re worried about it losing that “big bike” feel, the numbers should put your mind at ease.
- Power Output: 48 bhp @ 8,750 rpm
- Peak Torque: 43 Nm @ 6,750 rpm
- Gearbox: Six-speed unit with a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.
BMW has even gone the extra mile with a 135-degree firing order, which they claim gives the motor a unique, characterful exhaust note that’ll set it apart from the typical parallel-twin drones.
