Mahindra & Mahindra has officially kicked off commercial production and supply of the new MaxSeeder. Manufactured under licence from Canada’s Clean Seed Technologies, this innovative zero-till multi-crop seeding machine is set to bring advanced tech directly to Indian fields and global markets.

Designed to handle a wide range of crops including rice, wheat, soybean, maize, and cotton, the MaxSeeder uses precision zero-till technology so farmers can sow seeds directly into paddy residue. This completely removes the need for stubble burning, saving water and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The machine’s patented system also lowers fertilizer usage and seed wastage, improving input efficiency and boosting overall farm profits.

The machine is being produced at Mahindra’s exclusive farm machinery facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. Under a phased rollout strategy to cater to different regional farming needs, the MaxSeeder will hit Mahindra Farm Equipment Business dealerships first in Punjab and Haryana, where field trials have already shown great results sowing into heavy paddy residue with minimal soil disturbance.

Key Features and Specifications of the MaxSeeder

  • Works with Lower-HP Tractors: Engineered as a tractor-trailed machine, it runs comfortably on tractors as low as 35 HP and above. Farmers do not need expensive, higher-horsepower tractors to run this precision equipment.
  • Handles Multiple Crop Patterns: Equipped with five independent planting row units, it offers multiple row configurations and adjustable row spacing. Farmers can customize sowing patterns to easily switch between cereals, pulses, cotton, and maize.
  • Adaptable Agronomy: Featuring multiple metering configurations and flexible product delivery options, the unit ensures accurate seed and input placement while reducing the total number of field passes required.
  • Smart Fertilizer Placement: An intelligent Electronic Control Unit (ECU) manages metering for seeds, DAP, and urea, which operators can control directly through a smartphone app. A unique multifunctional tyne places urea about 1.5 inches below the seed line, ensuring timely nutrient delivery, stopping fertilizer waste, and aiding root growth.
  • Higher Operating Speeds: The zero-till capability reduces field preparation steps, allowing farmers to cover fields faster, save on fuel and labour, and make the most of crucial planting windows.
