BMW Motorrad India just dropped a serious performance bomb on the Indian superbike market. The brand-new BMW M 1000 R, a hardcore “M Roadster” that brings pure racing tech to the street, has officially launched. This isn’t just a naked bike; it’s the second-ever “M” model from the motorcycle division, and it’s every bit as aggressive as its four-wheeled cousins.

Starting today, speed junkies can head over to any authorized BMW Motorrad dealership to pre-order this beast, which arrives in India as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU). While the launch is happening now, deliveries are set to kick off in January 2024.

Performance Numbers That Defy Logic

According to Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, this bike is built for those “driven by passion and maximum performance.” Looking at the spec sheet, it’s easy to see why.

The heart of the M 1000 R is a 999cc water-cooled inline 4-cylinder engine packed with BMW ShiftCam technology. This tech ensures the bike pulls hard in the low-to-mid range while still screaming at the top end.

Two Variants, One Goal: Domination

The M 1000 R comes in two flavors, depending on how much “track-ready” tech you want on your driveway.

The standard model looks stunning in Light White non-metallic / M Motorsport. However, if you opt for the M Competition Package, you get a sinister Blackstorm metallic / M Motorsport scheme along with a mountain of carbon fiber parts, including M Carbon wheels, carbon tank covers, and an airbox cover.

Aerodynamics and Design: Wings and Carbon

The first thing anyone will notice are the M Winglets. These aren’t just for show; they produce massive aerodynamic downforce to keep the front wheel planted, whether you’re pinned upright or leaning hard into a corner.

The design is ultra-compact and aggressive, featuring a new front mudguard with integrated brake ducts for better cooling. For the aesthetic “tech-gourmet,” the M Competition package adds a fully adjustable milled M rider footrest system and carbon bits from the chain guard to the wind deflector.

High-Tech Control and Safety

BMW has loaded this roadster with a 6.5-inch TFT display and a 6-axis sensor box to manage a suite of electronics:

  • Riding Modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, and “Race Pro 1-3.”
  • Pro Features: Launch Control and a Pit-lane limiter for those track days.
  • Rider Aids: Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Wheelie-Control, ABS Pro, and even Heated Grips and Electronic Cruise Control for the ride home.

Ownership and Peace of Mind

BMW Financial Services India is stepping in with flexible loan solutions, including pre-approvals. Every bike comes with a standard three-year, unlimited kilometers warranty, which can be extended to a fourth or fifth year. Plus, with 24x7x365 Road-Side Assistance, owners can ride with total confidence knowing help is just a call away in case of a breakdown.
