Promising an ARAI-certified mileage of 29 km/litre, the brand’s latest SUV aims to blend high performance with exceptional run-time economy, serving as a direct alternative for buyers moving away from traditional diesel vehicles.

Bookings Open Ahead of Full Reveal

Bookings for the new Renault Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160 opened on October 9, 2026 in India. Prospective buyers can reserve the new SUV for a token amount of INR 21,000 either online through the official Renault India website or directly at authorized Renault dealerships across India.

The vehicle will make its full official market debut and complete reveal in India on October 17, 2026.

Advanced E-Tech Strong-Hybrid Powertrain

Marking the introduction of Renault’s European E-Tech strong-hybrid technology to the Indian market, the system operates without the need for external plug-in charging.

  • Engine & Battery setup: The setup couples a 1.8-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery.
  • Power Output: Together, the powertrain delivers a total combined output of 160 PS.
  • Intelligent Multi-Mode Transmission: The automatic transmission seamlessly coordinates the petrol engine and electric motors based on driving conditions.
  • Energy Management: The SUV can run purely on electric power under optimal conditions, regains energy during deceleration and braking, and automatically switches between electric and combustion driving modes. The 1.4 kWh battery self-charges entirely while driving.

A Direct Diesel SUV Alternative

With diesel SUVs traditionally favored for their low running costs and strong low-end drive, Renault is positioning the 160 PS hybrid Duster as a modern alternative. The combination of strong efficiency and responsive power output addresses the demands of daily commuting as well as broader everyday versatility.

As the first E-Tech model to land in the country under Renault’s futuREady roadmap, the new Duster signals an important milestone in the automaker’s Indian electrification strategy.

According to Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Renault Group India, bringing this European strong-hybrid technology to India gives local SUV buyers a single package that eliminates the compromise between power and fuel economy.
