In a massive move for the Indian EV market, Ola Electric has just announced a jaw-dropping price reduction for its flagship electric motorcycle. The company announced that the Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh, powered by their indigenous 4680 Bharat Cell, is getting a price cut of ₹60,000. Thanks to the rapid economies of scale at their Gigafactory and deep vertical integration, the Roadster 9.1 kWh will now be priced at just ₹1,29,999, down from its original tag of ₹1,89,999.

The New Strategy: Limited Purchase Windows

Because demand for the bike has surged by over 5X during the recent campaign, Ola is moving away from open sales. To manage the overwhelming interest, they are transitioning to a limited purchase window model.

If you want to snag one of these units at the new price, you’ll need to be quick. Vehicles will be available in specific time-bound slots:

  • First Window: Friday, April 3, 2026.
  • Time: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
  • Availability: Limited units only.

Future windows will be announced periodically based on how fast the production line can keep up with the queue.

4680 Bharat Cell: The Secret Sauce

The reason Ola can drop the price so drastically is the 4680 Bharat Cell. Designed and manufactured entirely in India, this cell is the heart of the Roadster 9.1 kWh, which boasts an incredible range of up to 500 km.

As production at the Gigafactory ramps up toward a 6 GWh capacity, the cost of manufacturing has tumbled. An Ola Electric spokesperson mentioned that scaling the Bharat Cell has unlocked massive efficiencies, allowing them to pass those savings directly to the riders. By building a robust domestic battery ecosystem, Ola is effectively cutting out the middleman and the “import tax” on tech.

A V-Shaped Recovery for Ola

This price slash comes at a time when Ola Electric is seeing a massive resurgence in business. March 2026 was a bit of a blockbuster month for them, featuring:

  • 150% Month-on-Month Growth in registrations.
  • 10,117 Units registered in a single month.
  • 1,000+ Daily Orders during the final week of March.

The company is reporting a “V-shaped recovery” in market share, backed up by structural tweaks to their service operations and a much-improved ownership experience for their customers.
