Honda has just given the Malaysian lightweight sportbike scene a bit of a shake-up with the launch of the 2026 Honda CBR150R Stealth Black. This latest update is about giving an aggressive aesthetic to one of the most popular 150cc sportbikes on the road today. The new Honda CBR150R Stealth Black price is set at RM 13,399 (Rs 3.16L). While it sits comfortably in the entry-level bracket in the Malaysian market, it definitely doesn’t look like a budget bike, especially with that stealthy new paint job.
Power and Performance: The 150cc Heart
Underneath those sharp fairings, the 2026 Honda CBR150R stays true to its refined racing DNA. It’s powered by a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder 149.2cc DOHC engine that packs a punch for its size.
Key Performance Stats:
- Maximum Power: 16 HP (12.0 kW) at 9,000 rpm.
- Peak Torque: 13.7 Nm at 7,000 rpm.
- Transmission: A slick 6-speed manual gearbox equipped with an assist and slipper clutch
Chassis and Handling Dynamics
Weighing in at just 137 kg (kerb weight), the CBR150R is designed to be flickable and easy to manage. The bike features a Diamond (Truss) frame and sits on a 788 mm seat height, making it accessible for a wide range of riders. Suspension duties are handled by inverted telescopic front forks (USD forks) and a Pro-Link monoshock at the rear, ensuring the bike stays planted through the corners.

Braking and Safety:
- ABS as Standard: The 2026 CBR150R specs include a hydraulic single disc at both the front and rear, supported by Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for extra confidence in the wet.
- Wheels: It rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels with a 100/80 front tyre and a meaty 130/70 rear tyre.
It’s fully Euro-compliant and comes with a 12-litre fuel tank, which should give you plenty of range given Honda’s reputation for fuel efficiency.
- Lighting: It’s an all-LED affair, with twin LED headlights and a sharp LED taillight that mimics the look of its bigger brother, the CBR1000RR-R.
- Cockpit: You get a fully digital instrument panel that provides all the essential info at a glance, including a gear position indicator.
- Styling: The Stealth Black colourway features a mix of matte and gloss textures, giving it a high-end, “collector’s” feel without the six-figure price tag.
The India launch question
Well, honestly, even I have not idea why Honda India is not launching this motorcycle in India. With its competition like the R15 and RC doing quite well, its quite surprising that even after all these years the CBR 150R and its bigger siblings are not making its way to India. Last we heard it was a cost of manufacturing thing, but that was 10 years ago. Hopefully the company wakes up to the current market scenario.
