Airtel has announced that it is bundling free international roaming benefits across all its postpaid plans in India. Traditionally, mobile subscribers heading overseas have had to fork out extra for separate data, call, and SMS packs. This new perk aims to eliminate that headache by offering a built-in safety net for international travel.
Crucially, the offer isn’t limited to account holders alone—every single member on an eligible Airtel postpaid family plan gets to enjoy their own individual roaming allowance once a year.
Key Highlights & Roaming Pack Details
The complimentary roaming benefit kicks off on October 8 and applies to both individual and family postpaid connections. Rather than locking users into a rigid schedule, Airtel is allowing subscribers to activate their trip allowance at the exact moment they need it, ensuring validity doesn’t tick away unnecessarily.
Here is what every eligible SIM gets for their one free international roaming trip per year:
- Data Allowance: 5GB of high-speed mobile data
- Voice Calling: 60 minutes of free calls
- Messaging: 25 free outgoing SMS messages (plus free incoming SMS)
- Validity: 5 days from activation

How to Access the New Benefits
Existing customers currently on older Airtel postpaid setups or prepaid connections can upgrade to the new eligible plans via the Airtel App or by walking into any physical Airtel Store.
This move follows a recent announcement by rival telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi), which introduced its own roaming-focused perks across select prepaid, postpaid, and enterprise plans starting at Rs 501, offering up to three international trips annually across more than 170 countries.
