Samsung S27 Ultra new details

As we slowly approach 2027, Samsung is gearing up to unveil its next top-tier flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra. While the official launch is still a while away, early leaks and industry reports have already given tech fans a comprehensive glimpse into what the upcoming Ultra model will bring to the table. From a major rear camera redesign to an upgraded display and a larger battery, here is a detailed breakdown of all the leaked details surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Expected Launch Timeline and Price in India

The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to launch globally and in India around January or February 2027. It is tipped to launch alongside the standard Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, and a potentially new Galaxy S27 Pro variant.

As for pricing, initial leaks suggest the flagship device will carry an expected starting price tag of Rs 1,49,990 in India. Separate pricing rumors indicate the base configuration (12GB RAM + 256GB storage) could start around Rs 1,31,999, with top-end options offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. Similar pricing as the new gen Pixels but at a higher cost.

Redesigned Look and Display Enhancements

The Galaxy S27 Ultra appears to be heading toward one of its biggest design shake-ups in years. Leaked renders reveal a new horizontal camera layout on the rear, grouping lenses inside a single camera island rather than utilizing individual floating camera rings. Despite gaining roughly 4 grams due to a capacity upgrade for the battery, the phone is tipped to maintain a sleek profile that remains lighter and thinner than the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

On the front, the smartphone is expected to feature a 6.89-inch (or 6.9-inch) Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X flat display boasting a 2K QHD+ resolution, an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate (with some reports hinting at up to 144Hz), and a peak brightness reaching 3,000 nits. Samsung is also rumoured to use energy-efficient M16 display panels and introduce an integrated Privacy Glass technology to shield on-screen content from side viewing on the Ultra and Pro variants.

Performance, Chipset, and Hardware

Under the bonnet, Samsung is reportedly testing the flagship with next-generation processors. While regional variations may see an Exynos 2700 chip in select markets, global performance is expected to be driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (or Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6).

To support advanced AI tasks and multitasking, high-end configurations may incorporate ultra-fast LPDDR6 RAM alongside UFS 5.0 storage technology.

Upgraded Camera Setup

The camera hardware is rumoured to undergo a notable shift finally. Samsung is reportedly considering dropping the dedicated 3x telephoto lens in favour of advanced AI processing and enhanced hybrid zoom capabilities.

Expected camera specifications include:

  • Primary Rear Camera: 200MP HP6 sensor (1/1.3-inch) with LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology for superior low-light performance and wider dynamic range.
  • Ultra-Wide Lens: 50MP sensor.
  • Periscope Telephoto: 50MP sensor with 5x optical zoom.
  • Front Camera: 12MP Dual Pixel (or 16MP) selfie shooter.
  • Video Capabilities: Enhanced 8K video recording with improved thermal management.

Battery, Fast Charging, and Connectivity

Moving away from the 5,000 mAh capacity seen in previous generations, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to feature a larger 5,700 mAh (or up to 5,800 mAh) battery.

The device is expected to support 65W wired fast charging, Qi2 magnetic wireless charging (bringing a MagSafe-style accessory ecosystem to the Galaxy lineup), and S Pen stylus support. Satellite connectivity (NR-NTN) and high-speed Wi-Fi features are also anticipated.
