The team at Aprilia Racing are absolutely over the moon after wrapping up the weekend at the Mugello Circuit with a truly historic set of results. Starting right from pole position, Marco Bezzecchi rode an incredibly smart and strong race. He pulled off the race-deciding overtake on the fourteenth lap, crossing the line to bag his very first victory at Mugello.
This marks the Italian rider’s tenth win in the premier class and his fourth victory of the season, officially making 2026 his most successful campaign since his MotoGP debut. Incredible as it sounds, Bezzecchi has taken those ten top-class wins on ten completely different circuits—a mind-blowing feat that has only ever been achieved in the past by racing legends Wayne Gardner, Freddie Spencer, and Casey Stoner. The magnificent Mugello triumph also clocks up his twenty-fourth podium in the top class.
A Flawless One-Two Finish for the Factory Riders
It wasn’t just a one-man show, though. Jorge Martín turned in a top-level performance of his own. After pulling off an outstanding start, the Spanish rider maintained a highly competitive pace from start to finish. He brought his bike home in second place to complete a dream one-two finish for Aprilia Racing. This capped off a brilliant weekend for Martín, who was consistently running at the front after securing a second-place finish in the sprint race.
This Mugello victory is a massive milestone for the manufacturer from Noale. It stands as Aprilia Racing’s first-ever win at Mugello, which happens to be the eleventh different circuit where the brand has tasted MotoGP victory.
Even more impressive are the records they shattered:
- It is the thirteenth win in Aprilia’s top-class history.
- It marks their seventh victory of the year, setting a brand-new record for Aprilia Racing for the most wins in a single MotoGP season.
- This is the factory’s fifth one-two finish in the premier class, following their previous double-podiums at Montmeló 2023, Goiânia 2026, Austin 2026, and Le Mans 2026.
- Following this weekend, Aprilia Racing now sits on a grand total of 307 overall wins in the FIM Grand Prix World Championship.
The team’s stellar weekend was completed by two more RS-GP26 machines locking out spots inside the top ten. Ai Ogura put on a fantastic comeback ride to finish in fourth place, while Raúl Fernández crossed the line in ninth.
To top it all off, the squad absolutely obliterated the speed traps and stopwatch. Jorge set a blistering speed record of 368.6 km/h in FP2, a number matched by Marco in the sprint race. Meanwhile, Bezzecchi rewrote the history books by setting a new track lap record of 1:43.921 during Q2.
What the Aprilia Stars and Boss Said
The riders and management couldn’t hide their emotions after such a dominant showing on Italian soil.
Marco Bezzecchi was understandably cloud-nine after fulfilling a lifelong dream:
“The win in Mugello was fantastic – a dream that I’ve had since childhood. I used to always come here with my father, my mother, and my sisters to see MotoGP, and I dreamed of being there someday. Over time, that dream became a desire to win right here. Winning in Mugello was an indescribable emotion, as well as seeing all the fans and the team happy and emotional.”
Jorge Martin was equally pleased with how the whole package is coming together:
“I’m extremely happy for Aprilia and for Marco as well. Seeing all the fans below the podium was truly spectacular. I had a few difficulties in the race, but I still gave one hundred percent. The bike is working, the team is working extremely well, and the work method is the right one. It is a combination of all these factors which is allowing us to achieve such significant results.”
Aprilia Racing’s Massimo Rivola summed up the weekend as one for the history books, pointing out that this was their very first GP partnered with Monster:
“This is a weekend that we’ll remember for a long time. In our first GP partnered with Monster, Aprilia practically broke every record possible, thanks to our extraordinary riders, thanks to an extremely talented satellite team, thanks to a one-of-a-kind factory, and to a group filled with Italian pride. Setting all the records on a track like Mugello has a unique flavour. Both Jorge Martín and Marco Bezzecchi will go down in Aprilia history for the record speed of 368.6 km/h. Both Marco’s pole position and race were particularly emotional, also thanks to the helmet dedicated to Alex Zanardi, an example of life and determination for everyone.”
