The wait is almost over, BMW Motorrad India has officially opened the order books for the highly anticipated BMW F 450 GS, just days before its scheduled launch on 23 April 2026. If you’re looking to be among the first to swing a leg over this middleweight beast, you can now head to any authorised BMW Motorrad dealership to reserve yours.
Serious Power in a Compact Package
At the heart of the new BMW F 450 GS is an all-new 450cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. Co-developed with TVS Motor Company and built right here at the Hosur plant, this motor is a bit of a firecracker.
It pumps out a healthy 48 hp (47.5 bhp) and 43 Nm of torque. BMW has even given it a 135-degree crankshaft offset, which means it should have a unique, characterful growl that sets it apart from the standard twin-cylinder crowd. Hope the vibrations are controlled.
Tech That Punches Above Its Weight
BMW isn’t holding back on the gadgets for their new entry-level GS. The bike comes loaded with a 6.5-inch TFT display featuring smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. But the real magic is in the rider aids:
- Ride Modes: Choose between Rain, Road, and Enduro.
- Safety Suite: Packed with ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and Engine Drag Torque Control.
- Smooth Shifting: A 6-speed gearbox paired with a slipper clutch and Shift Assistant Pro (a bi-directional quickshifter) as standard.
Built for the Rough Stuff
While it’s a brilliant road tourer, the F 450 GS hasn’t forgotten its off-road DNA. It sits on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combo, wrapped in dual-purpose tyres.
The suspension setup is serious, too—featuring 43mm KYB upside-down forks at the front and a directly linked KYB WAD monoshock at the back, both offering 180mm of travel. Depending on your height, you can tweak the standard 845mm seat height down to 835mm or up to 860mm with optional configurations.
