The BMW-TVS partnership has officially graduated from the “single-cylinder school” to the big leagues of twin-cylinder performance. With the global unveiling of the 450cc parallel-twin platform at EICMA 2025 and GS 450 India launch today, the floodgates have opened for a new generation of mid-capacity motorcycles.
As of April 2026, the production lines at TVS’s Hosur facility are already humming. Here is the definitive roadmap of what we can expect from this 450cc twin-cylinder powerhouse.
The Heart of the Matter: The 450 Twin Engine
Before looking at the bikes, let’s look at the “Beating Heart.” This is an all-new 420cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine featuring a 135-degree crankshaft journal offset—designed to give it a characterful, “v-twin-like” rumble and a rev-happy nature.
- 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm
- Transmission: 6-speed with Shift Assistant Pro (Quickshifter) and Easy Ride Clutch (ERC).
BMW Motorrad: The “F” Series Expansion
BMW is using this platform to replace the aging G 310 series with a more premium “F” designation, bridging the gap to their 900cc models.
1. BMW F 450 GS (The Trailblazer)
The first out of the gates is the F 450 GS, set for its official Indian launch today, the 23 April 2026.
- The Vibe: A “Baby R 1300 GS” with quad-LED DRLs and a slim, off-road focused profile.
- Specs: 178 kg kerb weight, 19-inch front/17-inch rear wheels (with a 21-inch option for the Trophy variant), and fully adjustable KYB suspension.
2. BMW F 450 R (The Street Naked)
Expected to debut at EICMA 2026, the F 450 R will be the urban street-fighter. It will likely be lighter than the GS, featuring 17-inch wheels and a more aggressive, front-biased stance. Expect it to be the most affordable entry into the twin-cylinder BMW family.
3. BMW F 450 RR (The Compact Supersport)
Spotted testing recently, the F 450 RR will be a fully-faired sportbike. It’s aimed directly at the Aprilia RS 457 and Kawasaki Ninja 500, featuring clip-on handlebars, rear-set pegs, and aerodynamics inspired by the S 1000 RR.
TVS Motor Company: The Racing Pedigree
TVS isn’t just a manufacturing partner; they are co-developing these machines to fit their “Racing DNA.”
4. TVS Apache RR 450
This is the big one. Following the Tangent RR Concept shown in 2025, the Apache RR 450 is currently in advanced state of development.
- Aero-Game: Test mules of the BMW F 450 RR confirm massive winglets, suggesting TVS is going all-in on high-speed stability.
- Positioning: Unlike the KTM RC 390, which is a track-tool, the RR 450 is expected to be a “do-it-all” machine—comfortable enough for touring but sharp enough for track days. It will be targeted right at the Aprilia RS457.
- Launch: Expected global premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.
5. TVS Apache RTR 450 – the naked
Following the pattern of the 310 series, a naked RTR 450 is almost a certainty. Expect class-leading tech like cruise control, climate-controlled seats (seen on the RTR 310), and multiple riding modes.
6. TVS Apache RTX 450 – the adventure
Expect TVS to expand the RTX family with a RTX 450. It will for sure be designed and look different from the F 450 GS and knowing TVS expect a whole lot more electronics.
