On May 17th, the streets of India’s major cities will see a different kind of motorcycle event. Riders will trade their racing leathers for tweed and tailoring, riding classic motorcycles to support a significant cause. The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) is returning for its 15th year globally and its 13th year in India.

What began as a style-focused gathering has evolved into a global movement. It is now a major platform for raising awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer research and mental health support.

The Evolution of a Global Event

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney in 2012 by Mark Hawwa. His goal was to bring together owners of heritage and custom motorcycles to ride for a greater purpose. The concept quickly expanded, eventually leading to a global partnership with the Movember Foundation.

Today, the DGR takes place simultaneously in more than 100 countries. It has become one of the most recognizable events in the motorcycling world, connecting tens of thousands of participants through a shared commitment to health and community.

Growing Impact in India

India’s participation has grown consistently over the last thirteen years. For the upcoming 2026 edition, organized rides are planned across 60+ towns. While registrations are currently ongoing, early interest suggests a high turnout in major hubs including Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Delhi, and Gurgaon.

These rides represent more than just a gathering of enthusiasts. They reflect a community of riders who are willing to use their hobby as a vehicle for social change.

A Partnership Built on Heritage

Triumph Motorcycles India has played a central role in the growth of the DGR across the country. As a long-standing partner, Triumph has helped expand the ride’s reach and supported local organizers in making each event a success.

The partnership is rooted in shared values. Triumph’s modern classic motorcycles, such as the Thruxton 400 and Tracker 400, are designed with the same focus on craftsmanship and heritage that defines the DGR aesthetic.

Addressing Critical Health Issues

The primary goal of the DGR is to bring attention to health issues that are often underreported or stigmatized. Prostate cancer and mental health challenges remain significant concerns for men, yet cultural expectations often make it difficult for individuals to seek help.

Through its partnership with the Movember Foundation, the DGR ensures that contributions support research and programs that address these issues directly. In India, the event creates a dignified and communal space for men to show up for one another and highlight the importance of preventive health.

Joining the 2026 Ride

As May 17th approaches, riders across 60+ towns are preparing their motorcycles and attire. The message of the event remains consistent: meaningful action often starts with a simple, collective gesture. By riding together, participants help turn a Sunday morning activity into a powerful statement for men’s health.
