Honda seems to be making some interesting moves in the Indian market but as of now it all seems to be in the scooter segment. While the Activa remains the undisputed king of commuters, a new Honda 125cc scooter design patent has just been filed, and it’s for a model that many enthusiasts will already recognise: the Honda Click 125. However we feel, they might not give it the same name for India. Expect a name that is a variation of the Activa name, like an Activa Click 125 or on those lines.
Sold across several Asian markets like Thailand and the Philippines, the Click 125 is a far cry from the conservative styling of the Activa. While Honda hasn’t officially confirmed a launch yet, filing this patent suggests they’re at least protecting the intellectual property—or better yet, prepping a sporty rival to take on the likes of the TVS Ntorq and Hero Xoom 125.
Sporty Design and 14-inch Wheels
The standout feature of the Honda Click 125 is undoubtedly its wheels. Unlike the standard 10 or 12-inch wheels we usually see, this scoot rides on 14-inch alloy wheels. This puts it in the same league as the Aprilia SR 125, offering better high-speed stability and a “big bike” feel.
The styling is sharp and aggressive, featuring:
- An all-LED lighting setup with a mean-looking apron-mounted headlamp.
- A sporty dual-tone colour scheme and bold graphics.
- A single-piece stepped seat and a sturdy rear grab rail for the pillion.

Punchy Liquid-Cooled Performance
While most 125cc scooters in India stick to air-cooling to save costs, the Click 125 features a 125cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This is a more sophisticated bit of kit that should handle heat much better during spirited rides.
The numbers are quite impressive for the segment:
- Maximum Power: 11 PS @ 8500 rpm
- Peak Torque: 11 Nm @ 5000 rpm
- Kerb Weight: A featherweight 111 kg
- Claimed Mileage: 49.3 kmpl
- Ground clearance: 131 mm
With a 5.5-litre fuel tank, Honda reckons you can squeeze out about 250 km of range before needing to find a petrol station.
Daily Practicality and Hardware
Despite the sporty looks, it hasn’t forgotten the “scooter” part of its job. You get 18 litres of under-seat storage, plus handy pockets in the front apron that include a USB Type-C port for charging your phone on the move.
For the oily bits, it uses telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. Stopping power is handled by front and rear disc brakes, supported by Honda’s signature Combi Brake System (CBS). One potential sticking point for Indian riders is the 131 mm ground clearance, which is a bit low for our speed bumps, though Honda would likely tweak this for a local launch.

Price and Competition
In the Philippines, the Honda Click 125 price starts at PHP 82,400, which is roughly ₹1.28 lakh. If it lands here at that price point, it would be a premium offering, sitting comfortably above the Activa 125 and Dio 125.
Whether this is just Honda protecting its designs or a sign of an imminent new Honda 125cc scooter launch, it’s clear the brand is looking to inject a bit of excitement into its lineup. If the Click 125 does arrive, it’ll certainly give the “sport-scooter” segment something to think about.
