The WorldSBK paddock has received some tough news as Miguel Oliveira is forced into an injury layoff following a nasty spill. The Portuguese rider won’t be lining up for the upcoming FIM Superbike World Championship races in Most, Czech Republic, as he focuses on getting back to full fitness.

The Injury Update: A Setback for Oliveira

It was a rough Sunday at the Balaton Park Circuit during the Superpole Race. Oliveira unfortunately suffered fractures to his scapula and ribs, along with shoulder tendon injuries and a concussion. After some discussions between the rider himself, BMW Motorrad Motorsport, and the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, the group decided the best move was to skip the next race weekend to ensure a complete recovery.

Miguel mentioned his disappointment, especially since he’d just bagged a podium during Saturday’s race in Hungary, proving he and the BMW M 1000 RR were on the right path. He’s now shifting his focus entirely to hitting 100% fitness so he can get back to his team as soon as possible.

A Familiar Face Returns: Michael van der Mark Steps Up

With the Most round fast approaching from 15th to 17th May, BMW Motorrad factory rider Michael van der Mark is ready to step into the breach. The Dutchman is a perfect fit to stand in on the BMW M 1000 RR; he’s got plenty of history with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, having raced with them from 2021 to 2025.

Currently a mainstay in the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team and a test rider for the WorldSBK Test Team, Mickey knows the bike, the squad, and the Czech circuit like the back of his hand. He’s keen to help the team collect vital data for the rest of the season and, of course, bag some points along the way.

Looking Ahead

While Oliveira’s bike is in safe hands for the Most WorldSBK round, his recovery will be monitored very closely. A decision on when he’ll return to action for future races will be made further down the line once his injuries have had time to heal properly. For now, the team’s priority is making sure their star rider makes a full and healthy comeback.
