The electric motorcycle scene in India is about to get a massive boost. Ultraviolette Automotive, the Bengaluru-based wizards behind the high-performance F77 and the X-47 Crossover, just signed a major Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka.

Announced at the ‘Invest Karnataka’ Conclave, this five-year investment plan is all about scaling up. With the state government offering Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) support and fast-track facilitation, Ultraviolette is shifting its manufacturing into top gear to meet the growing global demand for premium electric bikes.

The Two-Phase Expansion Plan

Ultraviolette isn’t just dipping a toe in the water; they are diving into a massive infrastructure upgrade. The proposed five-year roadmap is split into two clear stages:

  • Phase 1: Boosting Current Output The company is set to invest INR 200 Crore into its existing facility. This phase focuses on expanding current capacity and refining manufacturing processes to keep those F77s and X-47s rolling off the line faster.
  • Phase 2: The Mega-Plant Things get even bigger here. Ultraviolette plans to establish an entirely new production plant in Karnataka. This facility is expected to have a massive annual capacity of 150,000 units, significantly deepening the local EV manufacturing ecosystem.

Why Karnataka?

For co-founders Narayan Subramaniam (CEO) and Niraj Rajmohan (CTO), Karnataka has always been the heart of their R&D journey. They’ve pointed out that the state offers a “unique combination” of deep engineering talent and strong supplier networks.

By staying rooted in Bengaluru, Ultraviolette is proving that world-class innovation—from proprietary battery technology to futuristic design—can be built right here in India for a global audience. Plus, this expansion is expected to create a wave of new employment opportunities in the clean mobility sector.

Global Ambitions and Rapid Growth

Ultraviolette isn’t just a local hero. They’ve already made history as India’s first electric two-wheeler manufacturer to enter Europe, with a presence in 12 countries. Looking ahead, they have their sights set on scaling across Asia and Latin America.

The Roadmap to 2026:

  • Current Reach: Over 40 experience centres across major Indian cities.
  • The Goal: A massive national footprint across 100 cities by the end of 2026.
  • Manufacturing Goal: 150,000 units per year from the new Karnataka plant.

A Future-Ready EV Ecosystem

With proactive governance and long-term incentive visibility from the Karnataka government, Ultraviolette is positioned perfectly for its next phase of growth. This collaboration highlights how a strong policy framework can accelerate the shift toward high-value, high-performance electric mobility.
