Valeo (a global automotive tech giant) and Hero MotoCorp (the world’s largest motorcycle and scooter maker) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-develop Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) for two-wheelers. Announced on January 8, 2026, at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, this partnership targets entry-level to premium bikes and scooters — including Hero’s VIDA electric lineup — with radar, cameras, and AI to slash accidents and boost safety.
A 360° Safety Net for Indian Roads
The ARAS platform acts like a digital co-pilot, using Valeo’s radar and smart camera tech to create a full safety bubble around the bike. It’s built for urban chaos, mixed traffic, and vulnerable road users, delivering real-time alerts across petrol and electric two-wheelers.
Key radar features:
- Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
- Distance Warning (DW)
- Lane Change Assist (LCA)
- Blind Spot Detection (BSD)
- Rear Collision Warning (RCW)
Vision system perks (high-res cameras):
- Pedestrian Detection
- Lane Detection
- Traffic Sign Recognition
- Lane Departure Warning
Even works in low light, spotting signs and hazards like a pro.
Proof-of-concept demos already show it protecting riders and pedestrians effectively.
