Despite not being the best of pals off the track, there’s a solid amount of professional respect between Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi — at least, according to Fabio Romagnoli, the man who’s worked closely with both riders.
Romagnoli, a familiar figure in the MotoGP paddock, shared some behind-the-scenes insight into the dynamic between Martin and Bezzecchi during an interview with GPone. Having managed Bezzecchi in Moto2 and currently overseeing Martin at Pramac, he’s in a unique position to weigh in on their relationship.
Not Friends, But Definitely Not Foes
Romagnoli put it plainly: Martin and Bezzecchi aren’t exactly buddies who hang out after races, but what they do share is mutual respect — something he says shouldn’t be underestimated in a sport as competitive as MotoGP.
“There’s great admiration between them,” Romagnoli said. “They’re both extremely talented and both know what the other is capable of. They’ll fight hard on track, but they never step over the line. That says a lot.”
Comparing the Riders: Martin vs Bezzecchi
Romagnoli stopped short of picking a favourite between the two but acknowledged that both riders have very different personalities and riding styles.
- Martin is precise, methodical, and laser-focused during a race weekend.
- Bezzecchi, on the other hand, brings flair and an unpredictable spark to his performances.
“Each has his own way of approaching racing, and both styles work. That’s what makes MotoGP so exciting right now,” Romagnoli added.
Working with Top Talent
Now that Romagnoli works with Jorge Martin full-time, he admits it’s fascinating to watch how Martin has matured — particularly in the title fight against Ducati’s top contenders. Still, he looks back fondly on his time managing Bezzecchi, who continues to surprise many with his performances aboard the VR46 Ducati.
In short, while the fans may love a dramatic rivalry, there’s no bad blood between these two rising stars — just pure competition, the kind that keeps MotoGP alive and thriving.
