Pedro Acosta’s Czech GP weekend was a much-needed shot of adrenaline for both himself and KTM, finally breaking through the early season frustrations with a double podium—second in Saturday’s sprint and a strong third in the main race. For the 21-year-old, climbing onto that MotoGP podium at Brno felt less like celebration and more like sweet relief after how the year started.

Acosta admitted how tense things had been in the KTM camp, with strong personalities sometimes clashing and testing the team’s patience. “There was a lot of fire between us,” he said, but after hashing things out, the mood inside the box changed. With several weekends showing real progress and top-five consistency, Acosta believes the foundation for more success is finally in place. He’s keeping expectations in check but is optimistic: “Let’s wait until good things arrive to the bike and let’s wait until the Red Bull Ring”.

Maximum Effort, Maximum Reward

During the race’s closing laps, Acosta had Francesco Bagnaia bearing down on him and had to push his KTM to the edge. He described balancing his tire wear throughout, only unleashing his full pace when the heat was truly on. “I started to push again to say, ‘OK now we start to give everything we have and if we arrive with nothing, OK, but minimum we have to try,’” he explained.

How Has KTM Improved?

  • Qualifying Boost: Acosta, who’s battled poor qualifying performances throughout his career, now finds himself consistently starting higher up—even if it’s just the third row, it’s a far cry from the “disaster” of earlier efforts.
  • Electronics and Setup: Major progress has come from understanding the KTM’s electronics and setup nuances—a weakness that used to haunt him late in races. Plenty of work in testing, and adapting to different electronics, has paid off.
  • Team Chemistry: After some rocky moments, KTM’s camp is pulling together, and the energy is clearly turning positive.

With Tech3’s Enea Bastianini grabbing a sprint podium too and all finishing KTMs stacking the top 10, it’s clear KTM has bounced off the ropes and is swinging harder with each round.

Acosta sums up the turnaround: he’s relieved, motivated, and looking forward to even better weekends—proof that this young gun and the orange army are back in the fight.
