
Hyundai has pulled the wraps off the next-generation 2027 Tucson, showcasing a major design departure with its new ‘Art of Steel’ philosophy. Featuring a significantly more muscular, boxy silhouette, larger dimensions, and a thoroughly reworked cabin, the new SUV aims to deliver a far more upscale presence.
1. Exterior: Butch ‘Art of Steel’ Styling
- Design Language: The front fascia adopts a blocky, squared-off look with a full-width horizontal LED light strip, flanked by vertical LED signatures and boxy headlamp pods.
- Silhouette & Details: Features flared wheel arches, pronounced body cladding, faux roof rails, conventional pull-type door handles, and a distinct silver trim running from the A-pillar through to the rear.
- Rear Profile: Angular tailgate sporting prominent ‘TUCSON’ badging, an integrated roof spoiler, and matching full-width/vertical LED taillight elements.
- Rugged XRT Variant: A dedicated XRT trim is also showcased, featuring bespoke alloy wheel designs, beefier squared-off wheel arches, unique bumpers, skid plates, and dedicated badging.
2. Dimensions: Bigger Inside & Out
The 2027 Tucson has grown considerably compared to its predecessor to unlock more cabin and cargo volume:

- Rear Ingress/Egress: Second-row doors now open up to 83 degrees (10 degrees wider than before) for easier access.
- New Paint Finishes: Five new shades previewed — Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Grey Matte, Driftwood Grey Metallic, Red Rock Orange Matte, and Goyo Copper Pearl.

3. Interior & Technology
- Tiered Cockpit: Clean layout featuring a two-tone, D-cut steering wheel with Hyundai’s minimalist pixel logo, paired with a Mercedes-style steering-column-mounted gear selector.
- Digital Displays: A slim, horizontal digital instrument cluster positioned above the steering wheel rim and a large tablet-style central touchscreen running Hyundai’s next-gen Pleos infotainment system.
- Key Comfort & Tech Features:
- Dual wireless smartphone charging pads
- Dual-zone climate control with dedicated physical switches
- Powered front seating & orange ambient mood lighting
- Elevated centre console finished in soft-touch surfaces and faux wood

4. Powertrain Expectations
While official technical specifications remain under wraps:
- Global Options: Expected to feature a mix of petrol, turbo-petrol, mild-hybrid, and strong-hybrid/PHEV powertrains with Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) options.
- India Context: The previous-generation Tucson (discontinued in late 2025) was offered with a 156 hp 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol (6-speed AT) and a 186 hp 2.0L turbo-diesel (8-speed AT with AWD). Future launch timelines for India are yet to be officially confirmed.
