Ducati isn’t just celebrating its 100th birthday with a cake and a card. Instead, the Borgo Panigale legends have pulled the silk off their most extreme road-legal creation to date: the Superleggera V4 Centenario.

This isn’t just a motorcycle; it’s a rolling showcase of a century’s worth of racing DNA and engineering obsession. Limited to just 500 numbered units (plus an ultra-exclusive run of 100 “Tricolore” editions), this bike is designed for those who believe that “enough” is never actually enough.

World-First Tech: Carbon Everywhere

The Superleggera V4 Centenario is a pioneer, bringing MotoGP-level hardware to the local high street for the first time in history.

  • Carbon-Ceramic Brakes: It is the first road-legal bike to feature Brembo carbon-ceramic discs. These 340 mm monsters are 450g lighter per disc than steel and offer a 40% reduction in inertia, making the bike turn in like a telepathic racing shark.
  • Carbon Fibre Fork: Another world first is the Öhlins NPX 25/30 Carbon fork, which swaps traditional metal for carbon fibre sleeves, saving 10% in weight compared to a standard Panigale V4.
  • The Full Chassis: The frame, subframes, swingarm, and wheels are all carbon fibre. The front frame alone is 17% lighter than its aluminium sibling.

The Numbers: Power-to-Weight Perfection

If you like your stats served raw, the Superleggera V4 Centenario delivers some truly dizzying figures:

  • Weight: In its road trim, it hits the scales at just 173 kg (wet, without fuel). Fit the standard racing kit, and that drops to a featherweight 167 kg.
  • Power: The heart of the beast is the 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale R 1100. In road-legal Euro 5+ spec, it pumps out 228 hp.
  • The Track Beast: Bolt on the Akrapovič racing exhaust and use Ducati Corse Performance oil, and you’re looking at 247 hp.
  • The Ratio: This creates an unprecedented power-to-weight ratio of 1.48 hp/kg.

Racing DNA in Every Bolt

Every single engine is a work of art. The Desmodromic valve timing is hand-adjusted and certified by a signed plate from the technician who built it. Inside, you’ll find titanium connecting rods, titanium intake valves, and a crankshaft balanced with tungsten inserts (which are much denser than steel) for lightning-fast revs.

The bike also debuts the Ducati Racing Gearbox, featuring a “Neutral Lock” system that moves neutral below first gear—standard practice in MotoGP—to ensure you never accidentally hit a “false neutral” during heavy braking into a corner.

Aerodynamics and Electronics

The “Rosso Centenario” bodywork isn’t just for show. It features Corner Sidepods derived from the 2021 MotoGP bikes, creating a “ground effect” that sucks the bike into the tarmac during high-lean cornering.

The electronics brain is equally advanced, introducing the Dynamic Engine Brake (DEB). This system mimics professional racers by using the rear brake automatically during corner entry—even after you’ve let go of the front lever—to help tighten your line and boost confidence.

The Ultimate Collector’s Experience

Owning one of these 500 bikes puts you in an elite club. Each bike arrives in a customised wooden crate with a certificate of authenticity.

The real cherry on top? Twenty-six lucky owners will be granted the MotoGP Experience, a track day where they’ll eventually get to twist the throttle on the actual DesmosediciGP26 race bike.
